Fuel & Travel Cost Calculator Guide
What is the Fuel & Travel Cost Calculator?
The Fuel & Travel Cost Calculator estimates how much you will spend on fuel for a journey. Enter your trip distance in miles, your vehicle's fuel efficiency in MPG, and the current fuel price in pence per litre to get an instant cost breakdown.
How to calculate it manually
Gallons used = Distance ÷ MPG. Litres used = Gallons × 4.546 (UK gallons). Total cost = Litres × price per litre (in pence) ÷ 100 (to convert to pounds).
Frequently Asked Questions
Check your owner's manual, the manufacturer's website, or measure it yourself by filling up, driving a known distance, and dividing miles by gallons used.
The calculator uses a single average MPG figure. Motorway driving is typically 15–25% more efficient than urban stop-start driving.
